Stephanie Meadow (born 20 January 1992) is a professional golfer from Jordanstown, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. She started playing golf at age 7 at Ballyclare Golf Club before becoming a member of Royal Portrush.
At the age of 14, she moved from Jordanstown to South Carolina in the United States to further her golfing career and earn an Undergraduate Degree in Accounting at the University of Alabama. During this time, she won 9 Collegiate Events at the University of Alabama and set multiple records for lowest stroke average and number of wins. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude in Accounting.
She made her professional debut in 2014 at the Women’s U.S. Open where she finished 3rd out of a field of 22. Since then Stephanie has represented Ireland in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This was the first time golf was included in the Olympics and the event is one of the highlights of her career so far. As of September 2020, Stephanie ranks #172 on the World Women’s Golf Ranking.
In Chapter 1, Stephanie told us her story and helped usher in a new awareness of women in sport around the island of Ireland.
