Louise Quinn (born 17 June 1990) is an Irish footballer who plays for the Irish National soccer team & as a defender for Italian club, Fiorentina FC. Growing up, Quinn played youth football with Lakeside F.C. in Wicklow before joining Dublin club Peamount United in 2004. She encouraged Irish athletes of all ages and levels to recognize their sporting heroes for Chapter 2, ‘The Importance of Role Models’.
Louise captained the Irish U19s and was named in a 22-player squad for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2009 qualifying play-off against Iceland, which was described by Ireland’s manager Noel King as ‘without doubt, the biggest game in the history of women’s football in Ireland.”
After securing a regular position in the centre of Ireland’s defence, Louise was named the FAI Senior Women’s International Player of the Year in 2013. She was awarded an FAI scholarship to University College Dublin and represented Irish universities at the 2009 World University Games in Belgrade. Louise has since played for Swedish club Eskilstuna United, English club Arsenal, and Italian club Fiorentina.
